Bande Du Moment: F y f e

"Waiting on those tables in sunny St. Tropez..."

Fyfe's songs are a welcome escape from the high tempo over hyped hits on the radio. A little under the radar, the Fyfe EP releases April 8 and you can pre-order it here. The man behind Fyfe is 23 yr old, Paul Dixon. Catalog under: alternative pop music, or day drinking mix tape. Perfect for contemplating, these songs feel like an overcast day in the middle of spring, which is sometimes just what the doctor ordered.

RAC Remix Lovefool, Everybody Wins

Lovefool has long been a mix tape staple for 14yr old girls and karaoke songbirds alike. So when RAC remixed the classic track (see Baz Lurhmans Romeo & Juliet), we knew they weren't reinventing the wheel. RAC, also known as Remix Artist Collective gets straight to the point lifting the tempo just right for 2013. But maybe we aren't looking for something new under the sun, just a reason to play this on repeat for another 5 years. The original song, by Nina Persson, was written in an airport pre-boarding. The song is reminiscent of a time when airport travel wasn't so violating, bottled water was carried past security, nail clippers were just nail clippers, and hell - people wrote love songs in airports. Oh, 1996 how we miss you.

Young Dreams - First Days Of Something

Hold on to it. Hold on as long as you can. But if you do find yourself single, drinking milk off the floor, listening to the same song on repeat in your underwear, or feeling lonesome in public spaces, this video will speak volumes.

Appropriately named "First Days of Something" this song by Young Dreams is all potential and devastation spun around in one melancholy snow globe. Shot in Norway by Kristoffer Borgli, you will be happy you don't live there.

"I'm single, I'm not the lesser talented member of a duo anymore..."

Tanlines - Not The Same

'Choose your own adventure' music videos are so hot right now.

The Creators Project put out a Photoshop-like "alpha channel video experiment" as they call it. The year is 2013 and the future is now. Take this space age website for a spin and see Tanlines perform in front of Stonehenge, the badlands, the white house, or my personal favorite, on top of a live fish cam. There is no limit to your imagination. Oh - and the song is top notch, too.

Check out the full experience here.

Girl On Girl: Chloe And Zoe Talk Chloe And Zoe

No one takes female comics seriously. Not even female comics. I'm sure there would have been a documentary on the subject, had their been anyone willing to watch it. (see: Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work). But female comics, unlike the LA Sparks, are on the up and up.

Since Hilary Clinton took office, we've seen Ellen Degeneres conquer daytime television with nonsensical dances and relentless giveaways. We've seen emerging talent like Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer of Broad City talk frankly about the tampon vs. pad. We've seen Tina Fey write a book about pants being bossy. We've seen Amy Poehler take Upright Citizens Brigade up a notch, make that weird smirk, and then marry (and divorce) our favorite character on Arrested Development

Please disregard: Rosie O'Donnell.

Enter Chloe + Zoe a female comedy duo, who aim to host their own award show, eat burritos for breakfast, and finish season 2 of their online series by May. The honeymooning duo, as in sync as a tandem bike, are equally talented performers. Chloe and Zoe show potential and relatability that is of the Lena Dunham variety. Check out how hard they Craigslist.

If you enjoyed the comedy-drama series, Gilmore Girls, please exit this browser. There are enough thirty-something single mothers on TV. We now return you to our regular scheduled programming, Chloe and Zoe.

When did you first discover that you were funny?

Chloe: Very recently. I made my first joke at In-N-Out in 2010. Want to hear it?
The fries at In-N-Out come in 2 sizes – none, or a lot.
Zoe: I made my first joke when I was 2 or 3. When watching Beauty and the
Beast, which I knew very well, I turned to my family and said (re: Gastone
and his troops banging down the Beast’s door) “The good towns-people
are the bad towns-people, and the bad towns-people are the good towns-
people.” This isn’t really a joke so much as pointing something out, but
according to my mom it was delivered like bad-um-pah!
How did you meet?

Chloe: I first met Zoë at her fake engagement party.
Are you on Tinder?

Chloe and Zoe: No.
Chloe: But we know what it is! We just found out the other day.
Zoe: Somebody told me about it at a party but I forgot.
Chloe: She just googled it. Now we’re downloading it so I guess the answer is YES.
What do you have cooking for the rest of 2013?

Chloe and Zoe: Well we’re making Season 2, then we’re going to try and develop the show as a half-hour (we’re aiming for like FOX or NBC). After that there’ll be a feature, some action figures, probably some commercial appearances, maybe a spokeswomen gig, definitely a clothing line, and we’d really like to host an awards show. But really, we’re writing Season 2. We’ll have that done by May, and then we’ll see what’s next.
Did you keep any of the resolutions you made in your video for Hello Giggles?

Chloe and Zoe: No.*
*Proof that no one has ever kept a New Year resolution.
Who makes you laugh?
Chloe: When we started thinking about the show we talked a lot about Daria, about Ghost World, about Bill & Ted, and some about Beavis and Butthead. Daria helps us the most.
Zoe: And also the excellent web series “Broad City”. They make me laugh. A lot of people do. Like all the 70’s SNL guys - Steve Martin in particular, Patton Oswalt, Tina Fey and co., Sarah Silverman big time… my friend Tim…
Chloe: My friends make me laugh. Today I watched all the episodes of “Bestie x Bestie” and Jenny Slate made me laugh. That video where Steve Nash dresses up as Batman and makes fun of P90X really makes me laugh.
What is the best YouTube comment you've ever gotten?

Chloe: Somebody said that Josh looks like Butthead. That one was good. I like when people post unfiltered observations. Sorry, it says “EXACTLY LIKE BUTTHEAD.”
Zoe: The best ones for me are the ones that are like “you guys are hilarious” or “you’re so great”, etc.
In LA - Best Drink / Best Brunch / Best place to people watch

Chloe: The best drink is a $2 Dos Equis at La Cabana on a Thursday night. It just tastes better when it’s cheap.
Zoe: Yeah, we also drink these black, disgusting-looking/tasting “brain shots” from Earth Bar (e3 live?) when we have a show or big writing to do. E3 live with “Brain On”. You really feel it. One memorable brunch that comes to mind is my brunch I had at BLD on Beverly. Wow. We got all this amazing brunch. Their Eggs Benedict, ricotta blueberry pancakes, gimme a break.
Chloe: I wasn’t there but it sounds great. The only thing I really want to eat when I wake up is a burrito. I like the one at Yuca’s with all the pork. But the last time I tried to go on a Saturday morning they weren’t open yet. It was like 9. And the best place to people watch is Soul-Cycle.
Zoe: Yeah. Or the Cross-fit place next to Yogurtland. We once sat in the car eating our yogurt while these people were hopping up and down and hurling themselves around in class.

The Japanese Popstars - Shells of Silver

Known in Ireland as the Jappy Pops, this band was recently signed to Virgin Records. To top that, Nike churned out some custom trainers for the band appropriately named JAPSTARS01 for style hungry fans. The cherry on top, they have worked with the likes of Morgan Kibby of M83 and Robert Smith from The Cure.

If the above hasn't yet convinced you to listen to this song on repeat; they are frequently hailed as one of the best live acts. Having played every festival under the sun, The Japanese Popstars are a festival staple from Fuji Rock in Japan, Glastonbury Festival in the UK, to Dance.Here.Now in NY. Check out their song Shells of Silver to get your blood flowing.

Penguin X, Pharrell and Private Data

Pharrell is fo'real as he gets down to the biznass and talks Zuckerberg, Penguin X, and freedom of information with Ben Mezrich and Andy Greenberg. Mezrich wrote Bringing Down The House, the book that inspired the movie 21, after meeting the MIT students at a bar, and asking "Where did you get all those Benjamins?"

Greenberg was on a similar beat and wrote This Machine Kills Secrets, which is the best non-fiction book title I've ever heard, so you should definitely snag it.

A must watch for anyone that dislikes Mark Zuckerberg, was totally confused about Wikileaks, and is sure they are being phone-tapped. This video serves as further proof that Pharrell is king and it is impossible to remember you password. You should probably start using an encrypted instant messaging service like Julian Assange. Keep your hand close to your chest and check out the naked woman at 19:30.

Powerul words about image, the talent of the magazine industry and what being a model really gets you.

Tiga Tiga Tiga

He won a little thing called Dance Record of The Year in 2007, but more importantly his interviews are next level.

Who would you bring back from the dead to work with?

"I don't believe in dead people. I don't work with dead people. You know, they had their time, they had a lot of time and now it's my time and my contemporaries time to work. So, nobody."

My favorite song? That's easy.

He even acts as the self-involved brother in the chess satire of the century, The Ivory Tower.

He's been called the dove, the man that fun never forgot, he's a dj, musician, producer...

My lyrics essentially reveal how interesting I am.

Every morning I leave a hotel, I check out, I give all the conditioner that I steal to a bum. Any bum. It doesn't matter. The point is it's significantly more than the least I could do. And another thing, criticism in general it just doesn't affect me.
